So.... we were going to write about something else, but in our Tuesday team meeting, my amazing team member Rachel and I realized that we've both been auditing our expenses (thanks, quarterly tax filing deadline!). After a tangent about if pest control service is worth it (uh... obviously, YES!), we both agreed that we needed to resurrect our clean out your junk drawer edition. (You know... the one that made you toss out all those twist ties, allen wrenches and random cords). But this year... with a twist.
Because your DIGITAL junk drawer... there's a real cost to neglecting that baby!
Want to know what I'm wading through?
And don’t even get me started on my phone. The rogue apps. The 4,000 photos of sunsets, pretty cocktails and me looking out a plane window.
We all do it... with the best of intentions.
But every open tab, unread notification and buried document is low-key background noise in your brain. And that noise is exhausting.
So... let’s fix that.
Here’s my 3-2-1 countdown to peace of mind:
3. Marie Kondo your subscriptions. If you're not using it, or, if it doesn’t bring you joy, cancel it... and put that cash to better use.
If you really want it (like, if you want to learn Italian before your trip to Florence, and you downloaded DuoLingo forever ago), schedule time on your calendar to use the damn thing!
2. Clear the noise in your inbox. If it's a dumpster fire, stop sorting through the ashes. Create a new folder called “Archive—Before Today,” drag it all in there, start fresh... and then exhale. You made it!
1. Break up with your selfies. Quick, how many photos are in your phone? Drumroll... I have 26,261 .... no kidding... it's time for the Great Camera Roll Purge of 2025.
You don't need 47 photos from the same wedding. Keep the one that tells the story and dump the rest.
Look.... we likely take these photos because they bring us joy... so create albums (and then you'll actually be able to find them later when you want a dopamine boost!)
And now here’s the emotional part...
(Don't act surprised; you knew I was going to go here. )
Your overflowing digital junk drawer isn’t just a storage issue... it’s a reflection of how much you’re trying to hold.
It’s proof that you’ve been doing too much, for too long, without enough pause to process.
When we clean up the unseen corners, we create space to think, breathe and focus on what’s important.
That’s why I’ve been unsubscribing, archiving and deleting like it’s a competitive sport. And wow... the mental space that’s showing up? Priceless.
So here’s your invitation: Dump out your digital junk drawer. Reclaim your peace and focus.
With love + more money in your pocket (thanks to those canceled subscriptions),
Jes
